"There is only one way to really learn golf course architecture - get out in the field and do it. You have to participate in the entire process, from conception to routing to strategic design, planning, construction and maintenance practices." _____________ - Art Schaupeter

Art Schaupeter

Art became a full-time golf course architect in 1992 when he joined Keith Foster Golf Course Design. Initially working in project planning and specifications, Art quickly moved into the field and gained invaluable experience working closely with Keith on dozens of projects throughout the U.S. He ultimately became a lead architect, managing an office staff and overseeing select projects on Keith's behalf.

In 1998, Art established Schaupeter Golf Design. His first solo course, The Buckhorn in New Braunfels, TX, garnered numerous awards. His most recent project, Highland Meadows Golf Club in Windsor, Colorado, placed fifth in Golf Digest's 2005 ranking of Best New Affordable Courses.

He has also worked on numerous renovations and restorations of historic golf courses. His latest design, at Old Hawthorne Golf Club in Columbia, MO is currently under construction and scheduled to open in 2007.

Art is a full member of the prestigious American Society of Golf Course Architects.
