TPC Colorado

Voted the #3 Best New Private Course in the United States in 2019 by Golf Digest. It also received a 2019 Design Excellence Award from the American Society of Golf Course Architects. TPC Colorado, located just north of Denver in the town of Berthoud, opened for play in late 2018. As a TPC network golf course, the design had to account for tour-caliber tournament play one week out of the year while also providing outstanding, enjoyable member/public play the other 51 weeks of the year. Art addressed this critical design challenge first, by providing a much larger spread of teeing options than what is typically provided. The “tour” tee stretches the course out to a length of 7991 yards, while at the other end of the spectrum he has provided two sets of tees under 5000 yards (4157 yards and 4801 yards). Additional tees ranging from 5534 to 7433 allow all players to find a course length that is appropriate for their skill level. Additionally, Art’s trademark concept of “putting the golf in the golfer’s hands” is fully incorporated in all of the holes. Great scale and width on each hole provides players with multiple options of play to consider with every shot. Water, a very strong visual element for the course as it sits along the shores of two large reservoirs, has been minimized as a strategic element on the course, only coming into play on six shots during the round. The bunkers and the undulating ground contours in the fairways and through the green surfaces will be the main strategic impacts for the players to contend with. Scottish-style sod-wall pot bunkers are combined with larger sand-faced bunkers to create real variety in how players will be challenged on each hole. The diversity of the bunkers will give each its own personality and reputation. Players will learn that certain bunkers are absolutely to be avoided if they want to continue forward towards the green on their golfing adventure. While challenging, the golfing experience at the TPC Colorado will also be a truly engaging and fun adventure for golfers to embark on.
